Our Treasury Department is split into three areas:
Wholesale Funding & Liquidity ManagementThis team are responsible for ensuring the business has sufficient funds to cover both mortgage demand and investor withdrawals. It achieves this by accessing the International Money Markets on a daily basis to invest funds when there's a surplus, and raising funds when there's a shortfall. We deal with high credit financial institutions and can offer investment opportunities from overnight deposits right up to five years. The Society has excellent credit ratings with all the major agencies and this enables us to achieve the most cost effective forms of wholesale funding. These ratings also allow us to access different markets, through various domestic and international funding programmmes, which ensures that we are diversified and flexible.
Asset & Liability Management ( ALM )The ALM team within Treasury work closely with other business units within the Group to design mortgage and retail products which best fit our customers evolving needs. In addition, the ALM team constantly manage the cash flows on the balance sheet to deliver acceptable levels of reward/risk. This ensures Britannia remains in a strong financial position.
Treasury SupportThe team supports the Dealing Room with day-to-day activities, ensuring that transactions are processed in a timely manner and that all necessary documentation is in place. They are responsible for processing all Treasury transactions through the appropriate Management and Trade Notification systems. We settle in Sterling and foreign currencies through CHAPS and other payment systems and provide a similar service to other Departments in the Society.
