About Us

Our Environment

We recognise that Britannia impacts on the environment in many ways. These can be direct or indirect, for example through the use of energy in our offices or the relationships we have with our members, customers and suppliers. Our long-term environmental objective is to conduct our business in an environmentally sustainable way.

A recent impact analysis showed that paper use, energy use, business mileage and the resultant CO2 emissions, are the key areas for attention. Our commitment is outlined in our Group environmental policy which includes:

  • considering environmental impacts when deciding who we do business with, how we use the things we buy efficiently and how we dispose of the things we no longer need
  • looking at how much energy and paper we consume and how we can use less of it
  • considering the damage caused by our journeys to and from work and how we can lessen that damage.

How do we make the environment policy happen?

Not only have we sought expert advice to see how we can make a positive difference to the environment, but we also formed a partnership with an environmental charity called Global Action Plan. By working with GAP we want to make some small changes that will have a big impact on the things that matter.

Our Green Team who are an award winning team of nearly 300 volunteers across the business - help the whole of Britannia make these changes.

We have the environment working party who meet monthly to manage all the environmental work carried out across the country. Read more about what the environment working party get up to or email us if you have a question.
