Britannia buys sun shelters for St Mary's Catholic Primary SchoolBritannia Building Society has contributed to the purchase of sun shelters for St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Leek, Staffordshire. The shelters will give the pupils the opportunity to spend more time outside during their break times and enjoy playing outside in the fresh air even if the weather is too sunny or, which is more likely, too rainy. Miss Flynn, Acting Head Teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, said ‘It’s fantastic that Britannia have helped to purchase the sun shelter for the children to use. Since the shelter has arrived the children have loved playing outside and using it to shelter from the weather.’ The sun shelter provides an opportunity for the children to get fresh air and exercise, no matter what the weather, which is an important part of the school day. Mike Lewis, from the Newton House Branch of the Britannia Building Society, told us ‘It is great to know we are able to help our local primary school to buy this sun shelter. All the staff at the Newton House Branch of the Britannia Building Society are delighted that we have been able to help the school to buy this sun shelter for our local school at a cost of £1,000 from Britannia’s Community Fund.’ Britannia's Community Fund will be continuing this year and schools wishing to apply to the fund need to pick up a leaflet from their local Britannia Building Society branch or download an application form from Britannia’s website.
