News Release - November 2007

Britannia's art competition winners

Neville Richardson, Chief Executive of Britannia Building Society will present the winners of Britannia's annual art award with their prizes on Friday 23rd November 2007 at 11.00am at Britannia House.

Winners for each category are:

Painting, Drawing & Printmaking

Fury by Natalie La Rosa from Treasury

Photographic

Sailing on a Summer Moon by David Thornley from Britannia International

Art Objects

Dark Side of the Moon by Chris Marsh from Change Management

The Art Competition has been run for 4 years and this year saw the introduction of photography as a separate category. The winners were chosen by Britannia's 5000 employees who voted electronically for their favourite exhibit through the Society's intranet.

Neville Richardson, Group Chief Executive of Britannia said ‘It is fantastic the number of entries this year has more than doubled. It is great to see such a high standard of work and so many of our staff getting involved.’

The art entries will be auctioned after the presentation of prizes. The money raised from each art work will be split, with 50% going to the artist and 50% being donated to Born Free, Multiple Sclerosis Society and Isle of Man Children's Centre. The charities were chosen by the winners of each category. Last year’s Art Award raised £650 for Clic Sargent.

The easels have kindly been loaned by Westwood College to enable the entries to be displayed.
