Inspiring Women

Inspiring Women

Britannia is proud to be sponsoring the North West Inspiring Women Awards which recognise the achievements of exceptional women in the region.

Now in their 17th year, the Inspiring Women Awards recognise the remarkable women who have made a difference to the lives of others.

Neville Richardson, Britannia's Group Chief Executive, explained;

"The Inspiring Women Awards is a great initiative which has proven to be extremely popular and successful. As a leader in gender diversity, Britannia Building Society is committed to offering equal opportunities to all of our people and in particular to recognise, celebrate and reward women who are making a real difference. We are therefore delighted to be working with Inspiring Women to promote the fantastic achievements of so many women in the North West."

As the main sponsor of this year's awards, Britannia is asking people to take the time to nominate any women they feel are deserving of an award in one of the four categories - arts, business, community and the public sector.

Nominations can be made by calling 0161 926 8568 or online at www.inspiringawards.co.uk, the closing date for nominations is Friday 18 April 2008. The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, on Friday 16 May.

Britannia has won awards for its work in the area of gender diversity. In 2008 the Society was recognised with the Opportunity Now Private Sector Award for its approach to flexible working and the significant benefits that this programme has provided, particularly for female employees.

The Society has also received the Gold Award from Opportunity Now for its commitment to gender diversity. More recently Britannia has been recognised by the Minister for Women, Ruth Kelly, for its efforts to promote better work-life balance throughout the workplace, as part of the Exemplar Employer scheme.
