Community News

We believe we have an important role to play in the wider community...

Over the past six years we've donated more than £3 million to local charities and good causes via our charitable trust the Britannia Building Society Foundation, and our Community Fund.

We have helped lots of different causes over the years ranging from new books for school libraries, musical instruments, sensory rooms and new school diaries.

Have a look at the quotes below and our recent news releases to find out how people, local charites & other good causes have benefitted from our community donations.

Mr Hattersley, Head Teacher, Chuter Ede Primary School

"It's fantastic that Britannia have purchased buddy benches for the children. The benches include old fashioned favourite games, which we hope will stimulate the young minds during breaks."

Denise Pike, Secretary, Holme Village Pre-School

The new equipment for the children means we can now make the most of sunny days with outdoor story time and other such activities ensuring the children get plenty of fresh air.

Capoeira Art Brasil, Tunstall

"These new instruments will help us teach Afro-Brazilian dance and music which in turn help participants develop a variety of skills, increase confidence and self-esteem, exercise and make friends."

Sarah Thursfield, Head Teacher, Christchurch Primary School

Thanks to Britannia we have been able to vastly improve the schools library facilities. The library is very important to the children's education and we now have a fantastic selection of books to help and encourage the children to improve their reading. We are very grateful to Britannia for taking an interest in the school."

Neil Woodberry, Lanesfield BB/GB Bandmaster

"We're over the moon with the new instruments and they help the quality of sound because the others were old."

Christine Pointon, Manager, Home Start

"The equipment and toys for the sensory room were much needed to aid the development of the children. The room is absolutely fabulous, it is brilliant and everybody loves it. The equipment extremely beneficial but it is also very expensive and without the support of Britannia, we couldn't have bought it."
