Our Heroes |
For the third year running we are acting as principal sponsor for the "Our Heroes" campaign held in conjunction with the Sentinel newspaper.
| The overall aim of this campaign is to recognise conscientious people and groups in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire who have selflessly devoted their lives and shown a strong commitment to make a difference in their local community by offering them a chance to win a prize. The idea is that we encourage everyone in the local community to nominate a deserving person or community group within 9 categories and then a panel of judges decide on a winner and two runners up per category. |  |
The campaign has nine categories and nominations are being sought for:
- 999 workers who go beyond the call of duty
- community groups
- bright young things
- good neighbours
- stars of local schools
- charity champions and volunteers
- heroes of the NHS
- children of courage
- adult carers
There will also be two special awards, a Britannia Fairness award, chosen by Neville Richardson, Group Chief Executive of Britannia Building Society and the editor's special award, chosen by Mike Sassi, Editor-in-Chief of Staffordshire Sentinel News and Media.
From 1st May , the Sentinel will be featuring the stories of those who have been nominated highlighting the efforts, determination and good will of people of all ages, which often go unrecognised.
