Education Initiatives |
Number Partners is a national volunteering scheme that brings together business volunteers and schools in order to:
- support schools in raising numeracy achievement
- use number-related activities as a means to develop children's number skills
- enhance children's mental skills in numeracy
- develop children's confidence and motivation to learn
- provide a positive insight into the business world.
 | Britannia became a consortium member of Number Partners in 2004. Over the past four years employees have given up their lunchtimes to visit local primary schools to become involved in the programme – currently there are just over 200 volunteers nationwide with numbers growing all the time. |
Britannia is a committed Number Partner consortium member and has helped to design several games directly aimed at increasing financial capability in young adults.
Volunteers complete a thorough induction process (including the necessary police check), which leads to them becoming registered as science and engineering ambassadors, through the organisation Setpoint.
Setpoint is a nationwide organisation who is devoted to promoting science, technology, engineering and maths careers to children.
Our progress so far:
- 30 schools involved, which means approximately 1200 sessions a year
- Approximately 520 children helped each year through the programme
- Currently over 200 Britannia volunteers which means our people are volunteering over 8200 hours of their personal time to Numbers Partners!
