The Community Fund

Charitable and community donations

The Community Fund supports non-profit events and voluntary groups working in Britannia's home communities across the UK. It has helped many non-profit events and voluntary groups across the UK and ensures Britannia remains ethical and socially responsible.

It is primarily used to make one-off, smaller value donations of equipment or help in kind to projects that will be of direct and immediate benefit to Britannia's home communities.

In order to make our support as effective as possible, we focus on projects in areas where we have branches and where we can have most impact.

What's important is that our community initiatives are not just about providing financial help. More importantly we encourage members and staff to take part in initiatives and become actively involved.

Community PR Manager Joanna Turner has been allocating small one-off donations – often in kind – to good causes across the UK.

“This is a way of Britannia giving back and delivering greater value to members through community activity,” says Joanna. “Our branches have been extremely supportive by publicising the fund to members and encouraging them to apply, so we’re able to provide help where it’s really needed. Engaging with members like this serves to further strengthen our extensive branch network.”

So, how has the Community Fund already helped?

Here are just a few of this year's beneficiaries:

  • Sandpit, trikes and scooter for a nursery play area in the Vale of Glamorgan.
  • Toys for Shropshire Playbus of Shrewsbury.
  • Laptop computer for special-needs children with writing difficulties at St Edwards Middle School, Leek.
  • Gardening tools for a residents’ association in Kent.
  • Camping equipment for a scout group in Blackburn.

See Community News for more stories about how the Community Fund has helped non-profit making events and voluntary groups across the UK.
