How It Works

The Council is made up of 24 members who are appointed for a 3 year term.

Two years out of three, half of the Council retires to be replaced by 12 new members who are recruited via our branch network and our website.

There is an appropriate balance of men and women, age groups, home towns and ethnic background to ensure that the group remains representative of our membership as a whole. There is also a balance between branch, contact centre, postal and internet customers.

The Council sits on a quarterly basis and meets with directors and senior management to review a range of issues. One of the discussions will involve the Council splitting into small groups to discuss and make recommendations on a particular issue. Photograph of a Members' Council meeting

These recommendations are then taken away as action points for Britannia to report back on at the next meeting.
