Depositing moneyYou can save whenever you have any spare money, or if you're saving for your child or grandchild why not set up a monthly Direct Debit.
Withdrawing moneyThe account can be held in the childs name if they're over 7, or in the name of a parents, guardians or grandparents if under 7. You can have instant access to your money, with no penalty for withdrawals. When the child is 12 or over, you can withdraw money at any time using a ’Quickcash’ card with your own personal identification number (PIN), giving you the freedom to get your money out whenever you want. However, there are daily cash limits, depending on your age, which are shown below.
Passbook optionWith this option, you can operate your account from any branch or by post. You can normally withdraw up to £500 in cash daily or larger amounts by cheque.
'Quickcash' Card optionFrom the age of 12 you can choose the ‘Quickcash’ card option to withdraw money at any Britannia or LINK cash machine. Any withdrawals from a cash machine must be made in multiples of £10 and are subject to the appropriate balance being available in the account. There are also daily limits for cash withdrawals depending on your age.
Operating your account by postIf you want to deposit funds by cheque through the post just ask the person responsible for you to help – send the cheque and your passbook and we’ll pay the money into your account, and send your passbook back to you.
Checking your balanceTo check your balance or to get a full record of your transactions, simply take your Passbook to your localbranch. Alternatively, to view the last 5 transactions on your card account visit a Britannia cash machine or to check your balance visit a LINK cash machine.
InterestThe interest rate is variable and will be paid gross (provided you are eligible to receive your interest free of UK income tax after registering a HM Revenue & Customs R85 form with us).
