Unfortunately, we all know that life doesn't always go to plan. What if you were to suffer an accident or an illness that stopped you from working? Or how about if you were made redundant from your current job - would you be able to make financial ends meet until you found new employment? At the very worst, you could find yourself with no money and facing repossession of your home.

Britannia's payment protection policy, underwritten by AXA Insurance UK Plc, can help to ease these difficult times by providing up to 12 month's benefit (after a 60-day deferment period). The policy can be tailored to your own needs, allowing you to be covered for accident and sickness, unemployment or all three.

• Take your protection with you - It's a portable policy, so if you move house or remortgage, you can continue the cover.
• Protection for the self-employed - If you're self-employed or on a fixed-term contract, you're welcome to take out Payment Protection, subject to conditions.
• Helping getting back to work - If you make a successful claim for unemployment, we'll help you back to work with JobStart, a programme that includes free expert advice and access to the UK's largest database of positions vacant.
