![]() As of the 14th February 2006 all customers who have chip and PIN credit cards can no longer sign for their transactions. To authorise a transaction you will need to use your PIN. If you don't know your PIN you could be asked to use an alternative payment method. Chip and PIN is the new, more secure way to pay for your goods when shopping. Wherever you see this symbol at a retailers you'll know they have a Chip and PIN keypad. The chip and PIN system has been introduced to reduce the scope for signature fraud and card purchases will become safer than ever. This new technology makes counterfeiting virtually impossible and PIN protection helps to ensure that the person using the card is the genuine owner. How to use your new cardInstead of using your signature, which is more vulnerable to fraud, you will be asked to enter a four digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). The PIN will be personal to you keeping your transactions secure when you're out shopping. What do I need to do now? We're proud to be putting the PIN in shopPINg - our credit card customers should have already been issued a chip and PIN credit card.
