Membership
Britannia is part of The Co-operative Bank which is in turn part of The Co-operative Group, the UK’s largest consumer co-operative. A co-operative is a group of people acting together to meet the common needs and aspirations of its members, sharing ownership, making decisions democratically and creating value for customers. Membership is open to everyone as long as they share the values and principles held by The Co-operative Group.
Members receive a share of the profits which is paid out twice a year; in November (interim payment) and in June (The final share of the profits payment for the year minus the interim payment paid back in November)*.
By choosing to become a member of The Co-operative Group you can enjoy all of the many extra benefits that The Co-operative Membership offers. There’s a lot more to being a member of The Co-operative Group than just the monetary rewards.
Find out more about the Membership Benefits here.
As a reminder, members of the former BMR scheme were advised of the commitment we gave that they would be no worse off following the merger and therefore in June 2011, some members may receive an adjustment payment as part of their payout to meet this commitment.
*subject to a minimum share of £2 earned.
