Volunteering is a tool for learning and development via real life activities whilst at the same time making a difference in our local communities.

In 2007, Britannia employees spent 2444 hours volunteering for community programmes. In 2008, this rose to 6977 hours and in 2009 it rose again to 12,023!

As part of putting together our education initiatives, we commissioned a survey of more than 1000 14-19 year olds about their attitudes to finance. One of the key results showed that nearly 60% of youngsters have received no financial education in schools.

Our work supports the Consumer Financial Education Body strategy helping consumers understand financial services in the UK and manage their finances better. We also have ongoing relationships with the Personal Finance Education Group (PFEG) and the Staffordshire Partnership.
